Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your questions here

I have never exercised; can I start combat sports?
Yes. Beginner groups are non-contact for the first 4–6 weeks; stance, footwork and basic strikes are taught. Most of our members started with no sports background.
Is a medical report compulsory?
Yes. A report issued within the last 6 months stating that there is no obstacle to combat sports is required. Sports physician approval is requested for cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, eye problems, disc herniation, a history of head trauma or pregnancy.
Is sparring compulsory; will I be hit in the head?
No. Sparring is done only with those who choose the relevant group, under coach supervision, with level and weight matching. There is no contact to the face in beginner and children's groups.
What equipment should I buy?
In the first session equipment is from the academy. Afterwards boxing gloves (12–14 oz), wraps, a mouthguard and clean sportswear are enough. BJJ needs a kimono and rashguard; sparring needs headgear and shin guards.
At what age can my child start?
From age 6 they can join the Mini group. Programmes are non-contact and play-based. Guardian consent and a medical report are needed.
Is there a women-only group?
Yes. The self-defence course is women-only and taught by female coaches. Women also make up a good share of boxing, kickboxing and BJJ classes.
Do I have to compete?
No. Most of our members train for fun and conditioning. For those who want to compete there is a tournament team and preparation packages.
Can I freeze my membership?
On annual memberships a freeze of up to 30 days (90 days with a medical report) is possible. On monthly memberships you can leave with 30 days' notice.
